JARMO POHJANIEMI

Jarmo Pohjaniemi was born on December 26th in Finland, where he spent his formative years surrounded by its natural beauty. In Portugal, on his family's farm running amongst the clucking of chickens and the lowing cows, Jarmo first discovered his passion for visual arts at a young age.

As a young man, Jarmo's friends recognized his talent and encouraged him to explore the world of fashion photography. Without hesitation, he set off for Paris, where he quickly made a name for himself, signing with the top fashion agency in the city. Over the next 15 years, Jarmo traveled the globe, capturing the essence of cultures in cities such as Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, and London.

Prominent fashion icon photographer Bruce Weber became the catalyst that brought Jarmo to the other side of the camera. With every shot, Jarmo's passion for the art only grew stronger. He honed his craft and took a leap of faith by approaching a Playboy photo director with a bold proposal: "I can do this better." The director challenged Jarmo to prove it by shooting two of his girlfriends, and the resulting images stunned the editor enough to earn Jarmo numerous assignments. His stunning work graced countless covers, pictorials, and Playmate shoots, ultimately leading him to Playboy's Studio West.

In 2009, Jarmo realized that his experience in photography could be helpful for aspiring photographers who needed more industry knowledge and techniques. To bridge this gap, he leveraged his network of industry professionals and founded Shoot The Centerfold, an educational program aimed at giving back to the photographic community. The program boasts a team of lighting masters with over a century of combined experience working to Playboy's rigorous quality standards to fashion. Through seminars, webinars, workshops, posing guides, and other resources, Jarmo has created the most comprehensive photography education program available today. "I aim is to inspire the next generation of photographers to pursue their creative passions with confidence and skill."
